If you’re planning a party or only a little something for no reason at all then here are some of my ideas that could be a family fun.

While you got lot of things to do in the kitchen it could be a boring time for your kids… Many parents may wonder what to do to keep their kids busy. Keep them busy with making edible decorations. Kids love handcraft, making and creating.

The “Chilli-Lemon-Chick” is my low cost  easy-to-do edible decorating project -and this tip is great for any time of the year.

Parties are all about gathering and celebrating.Turn food into decorative elements that add artistry and creativity to the party theme, decorations and table settings but also a family fun over the weekend.

How to make “Chilli-Lemon-Chick”

Tools and Materials

  • Lemon
  • Some dried chilli pepper
  • Nail scissors or a pin or Hot-glue gun and hot-glue sticks
  • Black permanent marker
  • instead of drawing :Cloves or Lentils
  • instead of dried chilli :Red card stock (for crest and beak/kisser)
  • some plume for wings

HOW TO:

1.To make the crest , hole  the top of the lemon with a nail scissors or with a pin  then put the chilli to the hole. Or use hot glue to attach the chillis to the top.( i prefer to hole )

2. Draw the eyes of the chick. If you afraid from drawing for the eyes, put in  2 cloves or  use hot glue to place 2 lentils on the lemon; draw pupils with a permanent marker.

3.For kisser, hole the lemon again and put in 2 chilli or glue the chilli pepper

4.Glue plume for wings

You can substitute chilli peppers with red card stock (for crest and beak/kisser) too.Cut triangles from card stock and glue to the lemon.

Decorating with vegetables – Radish wreath

and of course you can eat it…

How to make your own  Radish wreath:

Supplies:

  • Wreath base/frame
  • Paddle wire
  • Wire cutters
  • Radishes Buy 15 to 25 bunches in a variety of colors and shapes (if that sounds like a lot, trust me; you’ll need more than you think).

Step-by-Step directions:

  1. Make a bouquet of two or three radish bunches, then wrap the wire around the bouquet a few times, leaving a long strand of wire (you’ll use it to anchor the radishes to the frame). Position the bouquet on the frame, with the radishes facing up and the leaves toward the back. Secure the bouquet to the frame by twisting its wire around the frame, then clip off the leftover strand of wire.
  2. Continue to repeat step 1, attaching each new bundle close to the radishes that are already wired on, making your way around the wreath.
  3. After you have completed the circle, step back and see if there are any holes or uneven clusters. Attach individual bundles or radishes where needed for a bountiful effect.

Note: Radishes should last up to two days; spritz with water to keep them looking fresh.
